A smoothie that tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream..need I say more? This smoothie is super thick and creamy like a milkshake but made with only nutrient dense foods!! It’s pretty magical.
What you’ll need for this recipe
First you will need lots of fresh or frozen spinach, this is what gives the smoothie it’s bright green colour along with adding tons of vitamins and minerals!
Next up you’ll need a ripe avocado, this makes the smoothie more satiating keeping you full for much longer!
We added in a frozen banana to give the smoothie some sweetness, freezing your bananas is key to getting that thick milkshake-like texture in your smoothie!
Protein powder is something I add to pretty much all my smoothies to ensure I am hitting all my macronutrients and creating a balanced smoothie. For this one I used vanilla protein powder to make it taste even more ice cream like!
Next up to give it that mint flavour you’ll need peppermint extract, you could also use fresh mint leaves!
Lastly, to get those classic chocolatey flakes you’ll need cacao nibs. Chocolate chips could also work in place of the cacao nibs if you are looking for a more decadent treat.

Mint Choc Chip Smoothie
- 3 handfuls fresh spinach
- 1 medium frozen banana
- 1/4 of an avocado
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 tablespoon cacao nibs (could also use chocolate chips)
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth
- Pour into a glass and top with some dark chocolate chips
- Stick in a straw and enjoy!
