Pre-made salad dressings from the grocery store often contain tons of added sugars and inflammatory oils that we don’t need to be adding to our nutritious salads!
You can easily make salad dressings at home with only a few simple ingredients. This creamy lemon tahini dressing is one of my favourites, you don’t need a lot of ingredients but it has tons of flavour!
I promise you won’t miss those pre-made salad dressings once you realize how easy it is to make them yourself.
All you need for this dressing is:
Tahini: if you aren’t sure what tahini is – it is actually made from ground sesame seeds, so it has tons of delicious flavour, as well as healthy fats! Not all tahini sauces are made equal though, so ensure you are getting an authentic one made with only sesame seeds! My favourite brand is Al Kanater.
Apple Cider Vinegar: try to buy an apple cider vinegar that contains “the mother”, meaning it still has live bacteria in it. This is great for gut health!
Maple Syrup: adding a little bit of sweetness helps to balance out the acidity.
Lemon: fresh lemon juice adds a delicious fresh citrus flavour that is sooo good in this dressing!
Garlic powder: for a little bit of extra flavour and bite, I like to add in some garlic powder- it is optional though
Salt and pepper: these are staples in any recipe of mine! They enhance other flavours in the recipe
Warm water: this is optional but if you find your dressing is too thick, you may need to thin it out with a bit of warm water!
