A smoothie that tastes like dessert?? Sign me UP!
This smoothie combines the two amazing flavour of cherries and chocolate and reminds me so much of a Black Forest cake- hence the name!
When making smoothies I try to always keep them balanced by adding in what I like to call “the golden three” – a source of fat, protein and fibre! This ensures my blood sugar levels stay steady throughout the day and also keeps me feeling full and satisfied for much longer.
For this smoothie I added avocado for a source of healthy fats, as well as fibre, Genuine Health Vegan Fermented Protein Powder for my source of protein and chia seeds for an additional source of fibre!

Black Forest Cake Smoothie
- 1/2 banana, frozen
- 1/4 cup frozen dark cherries
- 1/4 of an avocado
- 2 handfuls baby spinach
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon cacao powder
- 1 cup plant milk
- Add all the ingredients to a blender
- Blend until fully combined and smooth
- Pour into a glass of your choice and enjoy
